Remember when....

Hack was a bad golf shot - hence hacking;
Mobile was something typically hung up on a ceiling
Binary meant digital
Digital meant numbers (usually on a clock or watch)
Eurobonds referred to debts issued in one country with the bonds denominated in any currency except that country's
PTT used to refer to European post offices and their services
Giros used to be collected from the post office
Telephones used to be rented
QE used to be the first two letters of QED

CD meant Compact Disc. I was shocked to hear it used to mean Certificate of Deposit in NCIS the other day

Misecllany 001

Is the BBC targeting American audiences over Bilghty? There are a number of programmes with American accents or actors known in America (typically form the Wire) which is only justified if you are tageting America. Not just Torchwood and Doctor Who. Rugby World Cup - ITV what are you doing? Where was the Welsh commetator on the biigest Welsh game of the decade thus far? There is not much point targetng Jonathan Davies if you cannot ut one of your own tried and tested commentatos on the match. The Sky and ESPN corwd are overrated. Joey Barton, England have won the Rugby World Cup within the past 40 years - and away from home! I worry for the new season of the Mentalist and CSI, whenever they get shown in the UK. Justin Bieber - Christmas Single out already. Waitrose, first criticism but redeemd subsequently, what were you dong packing an apple next to a banana in the same bag. Now I know why Human Target (and 24) may have got axed. These new people do not interest me at all. The same with Knight Rider (21st century edition) once the car stopped being the star.
